AASHTO Issues Final 2020 Material Standards Update

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials has released the third and final 2020 update to its Standard Specifications for Transportation Materials and Methods of Sampling and Testing, 40th Edition, commonly referred to as the “Materials Standards” guide.

The organization noted that its final 2020 update to its Materials Standards guide includes eight new and 19 revised standards, including changes to its Geotechnical as well as Bituminous Materials and Mixtures standards. A summary of those changes can be accessed by clicking here.

The first 2020 Materials Standards update – issued by AASHTO in April – included eight new and 18 revised materials standards as well as revisions to the following sections: Hydraulic Cement and Lime; Fresh Concrete; Hardened Concrete; Pavement Measurement; Bridge and Pavement Preservation; and Quality Assurance and Environmental.
