The Georgia Department of Transportation will host AASHTO’s 2026 Spring Meeting, with experts from all over the country gathering for sessions that highlight topics that are top of mind for state departments of transportation and partner agencies.
The 2026 Spring Meeting provides AASHTO committees and councils a place to gather and address critical mobility topics affecting the transportation industry.
More detailed discussion of specific topics occur during “knowledge sessions” and other panel discussions, which will focus on:
- Multimodal Transportation Planning for FIFA World Cup 2026: Panelists will highlight the ongoing work by the U.S. Department of Transportation, state DOTs, host cities, and other agencies to enhance the multimodal transportation networks serving all of the game locations.
- Formula Funding in Action: This session will explore how funding stewardship, performance, and accountability are being operationalized by state DOTs with the overall goal of making project delivery more efficient.
- Safety Innovations Throughout the Transportation Lifecycle: State and local transportation agencies will share their experience leveraging technological advancements, new strategies, as well as existing and new partnerships to reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries in their jurisdictions.
- Future‑Proofing Bridges and Pavements: This panel will explore how state and local agencies are successfully preserving assets today through smart maintenance, timely rehabilitation, and “back‑to‑basics” project delivery, while also preparing for the disruptions that will shape the next decade.
The meeting is also home to the “Innovation Showcase” hosted by the AASHTO Innovation Management Steering Committee; a yearly event that serves to highlight state DOT and transportation sector grassroots innovations from across the country and discuss ongoing program activities.
The Spring Meeting also serves as the venue for the 2026 AASHTO Bridge Challenge event; a national contest designed to promote an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math or STEM disciplines among middle and high school students.
