Available online and in print, the 2024 edition of the Annual AASHTO Magazine – unveiled at the group’s annual meeting from October 28 through November 1 – includes a wide array of stories from the state department of transportation community.
It includes a profile of Garrett Eucalitto, commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Transportation, elected AASHTO 2024-2025 president at the organization’s annual meeting.
Eucalitto previously served as AASHTO vice president after his election by AASHTO’s board in November 2023. He assumed the last two months of AASHTO President Craig Thompson’s tenure in September 2024 when Thompson stepped down from his position as secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for a role outside of the transportation industry. That made Eucalitto AASHTO’s first openly gay president.
The magazine also an article about the 2024 AASHTO Bridge Challenge event held April 24 in Madison, WI — a national contest held in conjunction with the AASHTO’s 2024 Spring Meeting that is part of the “AASHTO STEM Outreach Solutions” program, previously known as the “Transportation and Civil Engineering” or TRAC program for 7th through 12th grade students.
Finally, the magazine offers an in-depth look at the 12 finalists in the 2024 America’s Transportation Awards contest – sponsored by AASHTO, AAA, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce – and how those “Top 12” projects delivered economic benefits and quality of life improvements to their communities.
