One year after officially opening, the agency said West Davis Highway is improving travel on I-15 in Davis County and on local roads for drivers – with agency engineers observing that roughly 28,000 vehicles per day use the new 16-mile, four-lane divided highway; traffic volume that is not congesting I-15.

“As northern Utah continues to grow, this highway is critical in preparing for it,” explained Utah DOT Project Manager Corey Nelson in a statement.

Additionally, to help people travel where they want in the way they want, Utah DOT added nearly 10 miles of new trails and connected existing regional trails as part of this project as well.

The agency also noted that, for many residents, the West Davis Highway’s biggest impact has been the time it saves during their daily commutes as its six new interchanges ease congestion on local roads and improves overall travel times.
