TransComm promotes excellence in communications through the exchange of ideas and educational programming, presents an annual skills awards competition, and advises other AASHTO committees on communication issues. It’s comprised of public affairs professionals from all 50 state DOTs, plus those of Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.

The February 15 webinar TransComm is hosting – entitled “Tried and True Messaging that Works for Transportation Communicators” – aims to help state DOTs communicate the benefits of the infrastructure they are building for communities across the country.

The webinar will focus on a National Cooperative Highway Research Program report entitled “Assessing and Communicating the Economic and Quality of Life Benefits of Transportation Infrastructure Investment” and will give concrete examples of messages that resonate with the public and why they’re effective.

Speakers will also give attendees practical examples of how to use those effective messages within their day-to-day communications plan.

The webinar will also connect the importance of messaging to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, enacted in 2021, which is providing a historic level of federal investment in surface transportation nationwide.
