The annual tournament, now in its sixth year, is jointly hosted by the National Operations Center of Excellence or NOCoE – a partnership between AASHTO, the Institute for Transportation Engineers, and the Intelligent Transportation Society of America, with support from the Federal Highway Administration – and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s ITS Joint Program Office’s Professional Capacity Building program.
The winning solution submitted by the “Intelligent Transportation Titans” is a “proactive tool” for analyzing traffic patterns using clustering analysis to optimize signal timing plans for both recurring and non-recurring congestion in Boca Raton, FL.
NOCoE said that, ultimately, the “Intelligent Transportation Titans” team won the tournament for not just for the traffic solution they created itself, but for their ability to effectively communicate the solution to the audience and demonstrate a very innovative idea to improve transportation.
