The program manager for freight manages technical and policy activities related to freight transportation, under the supervision of the program director for multimodal transportation.
The job requires the monitoring, gathering, synthesis, and communication of information on freight transportation policy, legislative, regulatory and technical matters to the members of AASHTO’s freight committees.
Applicants for this position should have knowledge and experience in transportation policy, transportation planning, transportation operations and management and transportation technology.
Applicants are required to have a minimum of six years of professional experience of progressively responsible experience in the transportation sector with a focus on transportation policy and freight issues, as well as in project management. Travel is also required for this position; between 20 and 30 days per year.
A bachelor’s of arts or sciences degree is required for this job, with evidence of a higher degree of professional development – such as postgraduate education – desirable.
