The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials is helping sponsor a series of listening sessions as part of the Federal Transit Administration’s “America’s Open and Transit’s Open” national outreach effort.

State department of transportation executives, transit agency leaders, transit advocacy groups, and leaders of national equity organizations will highlight their most promising strategies to encourage riders to return to transit systems across the country as part of this summit.
There will be four listening sessions as part of this outreach event:
- Listening Session 1: 2-3:30 p.m. EDT, Friday July 30. Click here to register for this session, which will focus on best practices to renew ridership. One of the featured speakers will be Roger Millar, secretary of the Washington State Department of Transportation and chair of AASHTO’s Council on Public Transportation.
- Listening Session 2: 2-3:30 p.m. EDT, Friday, August 6. Click here to register for this session, which will focus on how improvements in safety can build public confidence in transit. Jim Tymon, AASHTO’s executive director, will be one of the speakers during this session.
- Listening Session 3: 2-3:30 p.m. EDT, Friday, August 13. Click here to register for this session, which will explore ways to increase ridership with a focus on building community partnerships.
- National Transit Renewal Summit: 11 a.m. EDT, Friday, August 20. Click here to register for this national summit, which AASHTO is helping sponsor as well.
