Some of projects supported by this latest tranche of Build America Bureau funding includes the New Orleans International Airport, which received $1.15 million to enhance connectivity between the airport and passenger rail lines, and $1.15 million to accelerate planning for the 300-acre I-40 TradePort hub in the City of Winslow, AZ.

The USDOT’s Build America Bureau issued that funding via its Regional Infrastructure Accelerators program – a program that helps communities navigate complex development challenges, particularly by providing hands-on technical assistance. The agency noted that, through establishing the RIA program in 2015, it has invested a total of $54 million nationwide.

“USDOT is leveraging strong public-private partnerships to help communities upgrade their infrastructure quickly and safely,” noted Sean Duffy, USDOT secretary, in a statement.

“Strengthening capacity and collaboration at all levels to explore and deliver innovative approaches such as public-private partnerships is essential to addressing America’s infrastructure challenges,” said Morteza Farajian, executive director of the Build America Bureau.

“The RIA program helps communities navigate complex development challenges,” he added. “By providing hands-on technical assistance, the program enables project sponsors to deliver projects faster and at a lower cost for the American taxpayer.”
