AASHTO Holding Annual CTSO Meeting July 29-31

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials is holding the annual meeting of its Committee on Transportation System Operations or CTSO in Annapolis, MD, July 29-31.

AASHTO’s CTSO focuses on transportation system operations and associated intelligent transportation system or ITS technologies with a goal of improving safety, system reliability, and highway system performance.

That included the publication of very first “Transportation Operations Manual” in October 2023 – a new guidebook for transportation systems management and operations or TSMO efforts.

Some of the highlights of CTSO’s upcoming meeting include:

  • An overview of TSMO work being conducted by the Maryland Department of Transportation.
  • A discussion of how artificial intelligence or AI can improve the effectiveness of TSMO activities.
  • A review of the mobility planning and ITS strategies being deployed for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
  • How ITS and other emerging technologies can boost safety for vulnerable road users.
  • An overview of connected and automated vehicles or CAVs from development to deployment.
  • Leadership tour of the U.S. Naval Academy.
  • TSMO Award Ceremony hosted by the National Operations Center of Excellence.
