The committee welcomed Clark as the new vice chair during its recent annual conference in Portland, Maine.

AASHTO’s Committee on Construction develops and maintains standards to improve safety in work zones, works to improve customer service and collaboration, promotes quality, advocates for environmentally responsible construction projects, and encourages technology-driven improvements to business practices.

The committee also seeks to develop and empower state DOT and related workforces so they can achieve success, promote best practices for the administration of all construction contracts, and utilize construction efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Clark – who also manages NMDOT’s Construction & Civil Rights Bureau or CCRB – holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University, Canada.

She originally relocated to New Mexico as part of her work in the mining industry and then joined NMDOT in 2006 as a project development engineer – becoming a member of the agency’s CCRB team in 2013.

Clark is also a graduate of the AASHTO National Transportation Leadership Institute and serves as the chair of the Western Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials or WASHTO Committee on Construction and Materials.
