The American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation is seeking eligible students for its 2022-2023 Lanford Family Highway Worker Memorial Scholarship Program. Applications are available by clicking here and are due by April 15.

ARTBA established this fund in 1999 with a gift from two Virginia highway contractors and their companies: Stan Lanford of Lanford Brothers and Jack Lanford with Adams Construction Company.
The organization noted that more than 100 highway workers die every year in roadway construction and maintenance incidents, with thousands more seriously injured.
The scholarship fund provides post-high school financial assistance of up to $5,000 annually to the children of highway workers killed or permanently disabled on the job. To date, the program has awarded more than 200 scholarships to students from 32 states to pursue post-high school education.
ARTBA noted in a statement that students applying to this scholarship program must attend a post-secondary institution of learning that requires a high school diploma or its equivalent.
That could include any public or private four-year accredited college or university; two-year accredited college; vocational-technical school or similar training institution. Graduate students who meet the eligibility criteria are also able to apply.
