AASHTO Re:source Releases Second NTPEP Podcast

The AASHTO re:source podcast recently released the second of a three-part series examining the National Transportation Product Evaluation Program or NTPEP.

AASHTO re:source – which launched this podcast series in September 2020 – is part of the engineering and technical services division of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.

It provides services and tools through three major programs: the Laboratory Assessment Program, the Proficiency Sample Program, and the AASHTO Accreditation Program.

NTPEP combines the professional and physical resources of the AASHTO member departments to evaluate materials, products, and devices of common interest for use in highway and bridge construction.

NTPEP’s primary goal is to provide cost-effective evaluations for the state DOTs by eliminating duplication of testing and auditing by the states and duplication of effort by the manufacturers that provide products for evaluation.

In the second episode of the three-part podcast series, AASHTO re:source provides more details gathered from the 2021 NTPEP annual meeting in Rhode Island, including the start-up of a up a new program and how to add new materials to NTPEP’s oversight.
