New Leaders Named for AASHTO HR Committee

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials has appointed Amanda Olive (above at left), director of human resources for the North Carolina Department of Transportation, to a two-year term as chair of the AASHTO Committee on Human Resources.

Olive began her career with NCDOT in 1997 and has held various roles in the department, starting out as a right-of-way agent.

In the human resources department, she has served in the Classification and Compensation Unit as an analyst, assistant manager, and manager.

She also served as NCDOT’s human resources operations manager and human resources policy manager. 

Olive holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from N.C. State University and a Master of Business Administration from Pfeiffer University. 

Concurrently, AASHTO named Jenny Lafrenz – director of the Human Resources Bureau at the Iowa Department of Transportation – as vice chair of that committee.

Lafrenz has been with the agency for eight years and has more than 20 years of experience in the human resources field.

Her team at Iowa DOT supports the agency’s full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, classification, hiring, onboarding, compensation, benefits, compliance, and employee safety.
