A division of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, AASHTOWare offers a suite of transportation software products delivered through a collaborative business model with state departments of transportation across the country.
AASHTOWare Safety is a “Software as a Service” or SaaS platform specifically designed for highway traffic safety data management needs. Introduced by AASHTO as a Strategic Alliance with Utah-based Numetric, Inc., more than four years ago, this product has since helped 15 state DOTs improve traffic safety.
TxDOT is currently using AASHTOWare Safety to create what the agency calls “District Safety Plans,” as well as identify key emphasis areas and pinpoint opportunities for safety improvements.
The webinar will demonstrate how AASHTOWare Safety generates data-driven District Safety Plans for TxDOT; develops targeted outreach programs to help improve young driver safety; and how ongoing use of AASHTOWare Safety will enable better data-informed decision-making regarding safety programs in the future.
Keith Platte, director of AASHTOWare, noted that these webinars are designed to help state DOTs extract the full value AASHTOWare Safety brings to the table.
“AASHTOWare Safety is a tool designed to help state DOTs maximize safety across their operations through detailed analysis of data,” he said. “That’s the true value AASHTOWare offers.”
Ryan Fragapane, product director at AASHTOWare, added that using the data generated by AASHTOWare Safety in this fashion not only helps TxDOT develop better-targeted safety plans tailored to the specific needs of its 25 districts, but also helps transportation agencies expand the “business case” for using this product.
“Products like AASHTOWare Safety help state DOTs improve transportation safety for all of the people they serve,” he said.
