The University of Michigan won the 2020 Transportation Technology Tournament on August 4 for an innovative solution to curb space management for multi-modal transportation in Ann Arbor, MI. It’s the second consecutive time the school won this yearly competition.
The National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE) along with the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Intelligent Transportation Society of America jointly host this annual event, held this year during the virtual 2020 annual meeting of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
The nearly seven-month long TTT competition was created three years ago by NOCoE – which is a partnership of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, ITE, and ITS America, with support from the Federal Highway Administration – and the USDOT’s ITS Joint Program Office’s Professional Capacity Building Program.
It aims to expand the skills of the future transportation workforce by giving them the opportunity to solve real-world transportation systems management and operations or TSMO problems.
