AASHTO re:source – which launched this podcast series in September 2020 – is part of the engineering and technical services division of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.

It provides services and tools through three major programs: the Laboratory Assessment Program, the Proficiency Sample Program, and the AASHTO Accreditation Program.

The Extra Mile” podcast features interviews with current and former Mississippi DOT employees and leaders, along with transportation infrastructure stakeholders outside of the agency – including former governors, current mayors, and others

[Editor’s note: Dr. Shawn Wilson – secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development – recently appeared to talk about how Mississippi DOT and his agency work together, especially in terms of hurricane response. Wilson also serves as AASHTO 2021-2022 president.]

The overall goal of “The Extra Mile” podcast is to educate Mississippi residents about transportation infrastructure issues, covering topics such as construction updates, technology in transportation, legislation affecting Mississippi DOT, and much more.
