The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking public feedback via an online survey for its “Momentum 2050” statewide multimodal transportation plan.

The agency said that, every five years, it updates the plan based on the current status of the state’s transportation system, what’s changing, and how that might impact South Carolina’s multimodal transportation network over the next 25 years.
SCDOT stressed that this plan does not choose specific projects or decide what will be built where, but it develops the vision and goals for the future of transportation in South Carolina.
“This is a way for South Carolinians to get involved in the way we move people and goods across the state,” explained SCDOT Secretary Justin Powell in a statement. “We want to hear from you on the future of transportation in South Carolina.”

He added that the Momentum 2050 plan evaluates the “best ways” to move people and goods across the state.
“In South Carolina, we face many changes [with] shifts in population, communities, businesses, environment, safety, and travel behavior affecting how people and goods move throughout the state,” Powell noted. “It is important we proactively plan to address these changes, so we can deliver a multimodal transportation system that maximizes the safety of people, the environment, and our economy.”
