Josh Rodriguez –program director for environment at the American Association for State Highway and Transportation Officials – recently discussed how state and local transportation agencies are helping develop and build electric vehicle or EV charging infrastructure nationwide on a podcast produced by strategic consulting firm Atlas Public Policy.

Rachael Nealer and Tina Hodges from Atlas talked with AASHTO’s Rodriguez on the podcast episode about how the role of state DOTs has shifted over the past five years from playing little role in EV charging network deployment to leading multimillion-dollar charging infrastructure projects across the country through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure or NEVI program.
In addition to serving as director of the Center for Environmental Excellence at AASHTO, Rodriguez also supports the activities of the Committee on Environment and Sustainability and the Committee on Transportation System Security and Resilience, which focuses on topics such as air quality, climate change, decarbonization, permitting, stormwater, National Environmental Policy Act issues, hazardous waste and hazardous materials, risk and resilience, and emergency response.
