Osman Named to Lead Illinois DOT

Gov. J. B. Pritzker (D) has named Omer Osman (seen above) to serve as secretary of the Illinois Department of Transportation, pending confirmation by the state legislature.

Osman, according to a Feb. 22 statement from the Governor’s Office, most recently served as deputy secretary for the office of project implementation for the agency – responsible for guiding day-to-day program delivery and developing both short- and long-term technical policies and procedures.

Osman, who also served as the director of highways, deputy director of Region 5 and project implementation and operations engineer during his nearly three-decade career with the Illinois DOT, holds a Master of Science in civil engineering from Bradley University and a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Southern University.
