The North Dakota Department of Transportation issued more than $2 million worth of Transportation Alternatives or TA grants to help fund a variety of urban and rural for transportation improvement projects across the state.

Bill Panos, director of the North Dakota DOT, noted in a statement that those TA grants are made possible through a federally funded program administered by his agency.
“This program plays a key role in increasing safety and promoting healthy lifestyles through active transportation alternatives, which make North Dakota a better place to live and work,” he explained.
The North Dakota DOT – which launched a revamped website in January – said it awards projects each year in local communities to encourage active modes of transportation, including: pedestrian and bicycle facilities, Safe-Routes-to-School projects, community improvement activities, and environmental mitigation projects.
