The Nevada Department of Transportation is encouraging school children across Nevada to participate in an art contest sponsored in part by the National Association of State Aviation Officials and World Air Sports Federation that aims to celebrate the ways in which aviation, hang gliding, hot air ballooning and other air sports connect people globally.
The national contest has three age categories for students between 6 and 17 years old to create original paintings depicting “a friendlier world with air sports” theme contest.
All of the submitted art must be drawn by hand, not computer-generated, in permanent marker, crayon or paint on an 11 by 17 piece of paper – with submissions and official entry forms postmarked by Jan. 19, 2021.
NASAO noted in a separate release that three U.S. schoolchildren took home first, second, and third place honors in two different age groups in the global 2020 International Young Artist Contest sponsored by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale held this August.
NASAO Center for Aviation Research and Education coordinated the U.S. portion of that contest – which was sanctioned by the National Aeronautic Association – and said in a statement that it received almost 200 works of art from 25 participating states.
