The video features Vicki Kramer, Nebraska DOT director, who highlights the state’s dual focus on workforce development and roadway safety and how Nebraska is drawing from best practices in other states to proactively address those priorities.
She discusses Nebraska’s innovative efforts to provide $10,000 scholarships for trade students – an effort aimed at supporting and increasing the next generation of transportation workers – along with the state’s plans for a comprehensive safety bill aimed at enhancing driver education, enforcement, and engineering measures to improve road safety.
Kramer currently serves as chair of the AASHTO Committee on Transportation System Security and Resilience and on the Strategic Advisory Council of the National Operations Center of Excellence or NOCoE; a partnership between AASHTO, the Institute for Transportation Engineers, and the Intelligent Transportation Society of America, with support from the Federal Highway Administration.
