The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials recently named Chris Engelbrecht (above), safety and emergency management director for the Missouri Department of Transportation, to a two-year term as vice chair of the Committee on Transportation System Security and Resilience or CTSSR.

Chaired by Vicki Kramer, director of the Nebraska Department of Transportation, the committee covers preparation for and response to both natural and human-made threats, shocks, and stressors to the nation’s transportation system.
Engelbrecht, a nearly 30-year veteran of the agency, is a Certified Safety Professional who has won several major awards for his safety work, including the Francis B. Francois Award for Innovation from AASHTO and the Governor’s Award for Quality and Productivity.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Missouri.
