In the video, White explains that – following the first adjustment to Mississippi’s fuel tax in four decades – his agency is poised to enhance both maintenance and expansion efforts across the state’s 33,000-mile road network.
Concurrently, Mississippi DOT has awarded over $1 billion in construction contracts statewide – signaling a robust period of transportation development is underway.
In the video, White also discusses how Mississippi DOT is focusing on workforce retention, having implemented multiple salary adjustments over the past four years to attract and retain essential personnel – including engineers and maintenance workers.
Named the agency’s executive director in 2021, White previously served as chief of staff for Governor Tate Reeves (R) and as chief of staff for Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss., and former Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss.
White also previously served as assistant to Dick Hall, the former Central District commissioner for the Mississippi Transportation Commission, from 1999 to 2005.
