The agency said the Work Plan details all of its planned operations, planning, design, construction, and maintenance activities it expects to undertake over the next three calendar years, the agency said, including:
- Paving 3,046 miles of state and state-aid highways.
- Rehabilitating or replacing 235 bridges, including major preservation efforts for the Casco Bay Bridge and the Aroostook River Bridge.
- Expanding and enhancing transit services statewide.
- Advancing active transportation projects in Sanford, Windham, Portland/Roux, and the Mountain Division “Trail Until Rail” segment.
- Investing in ports, rail, ferries and aviation – reflecting the multimodal nature of Maine’s economy.
“This document reflects thousands of hours of work across the department,” said Dale Doughty, Maine DOT commissioner, in a statement.
“We recognize that our transportation system touches every household and every business, every day,” he noted. “We plan carefully, adjust when necessary, and keep our focus where it belongs – on delivering a transportation network that serves Maine.”
