The agency said all transportation modes and technologies are eligible for this program, which will make available $3 million worth of funding per fiscal year – adding that it will also consider applications for funds from non-governmental organizations.

“It’s important that we implement new technologies safely,” explained Julie Lorenz, Kansas DOT’s secretary, in a statement. “Citizens at Local Consult meetings across the state last year stressed the need for technology opportunities to better position Kansas for the future. So this program will help both rural and urban areas of the state improve the transportation system.”

She noted that an informational webinar about the new program takes place September 3. To participate, click here.

The Kansas DOT added that minimum of 25 percent non-state cash match is required to participate in this new program, with “additional consideration” given to project applications that contribute more. The deadline for applications is September 18, with winners announced in late October.
