This Load Resistance Factor Design or LRFD guide highlights the specifications governing the fabrication of vehicular steel bridges to include the furnishing and fabrication of steel structures, as well as the structural steel portions of other structures.
These new standards also seek to achieve quality and value from a common specification that standardizes vehicular steel bridge fabrication in the United States, AASHTO noted; allowing expertise in steel bridge fabrication to be shared among states while enabling bridge owners to share resources more efficiently.
AASHTO added that it is necessary to have these 2024 interim revisions to have all current specification information in regards to the LFRD Steel Bridge Fabrication guide.
