The latest episode of the Mississippi Department of Transportation ‘Extra Mile’ podcast discusses the growing opportunities for women in engineering and the infrastructure sector.

Two of the agency’s female engineers – Colby Kimmel, assistant chief engineer for pre-construction, and Jessica Dilley, assistant state planning engineer – appeared on the ‘Extra Mile’ podcast to talk about why they got into the transportation engineering field, the benefits of working at Mississippi DOT, and much more.
The overall goal of the ‘Extra Mile’ podcast is to educate Mississippi residents about transportation infrastructure issues, covering topics such as construction updates, technology in transportation, legislation affecting Mississippi DOT, and much more.
The podcast has featured interviews with everyone from agency employees to Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves (R) and key industry figures, such as Dr. Shawn Wilson, the former secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and immediate past president of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
