The agency’s Division of Aeronautics detailed how, in the summer of 2022 and following a year and a half of pre-planning, the Durango La Plata County Airport closed for 10 full days to reconstruct the entire length of its 9,200-foot runway – improving the airport’s ability to serve its community.
Durango-La Plata County Airport serves the entire “Four Corners” region of southwestern Colorado and its passenger traffic has more than doubled over the past 20 years.
The video shows how this runway and facility upgrade project helped improve the passenger experience at the airport while also making it a better support hub for economic growth throughout the area.
