AASHTO Journal - BATIC Institute to Host Two Webinars in June

The BATIC Institute: An AASHTO Center of Excellence will host two webinars in June.

The first one is an educational and informative briefing on the Build America Bureau’s existing credit assistance program, products, and services, with the second one exploring how performance incentives help optimize project delivery within public-private partnerships or P3s.

The main focus of the Build America Bureau is Open for Business webinar will be on newer initiatives and programs that can be especially beneficial during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bureau administers Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) and Railroad Rehabilitation & Improvement Financing (RRIF) loan programs, as well as Private Activity Bonds (PABs). Understanding their distinctions – and the different initiatives and flexibilities under each product line – can help optimize project financial structures.

The Performance Incentives for P3s webinar will receive contractual incentives in different phases of a project’s lifecycle that are designed to help “stimulate” performance. Those incentives include: minimum revenue guarantees; milestone payments and early completion payments; risk sharing mechanisms; and cash bonuses.
