The BATIC Institute: An AASHTO Center for Excellence will host a one-hour free webinar later this month to provide insight into Road Usage Charge or RUC programs – also referred to as vehicle miles traveled or VMT and mileage-based user fee or MBUF systems.

This webinar – which will take place on March 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. eastern standard time – is a follow-up to last year’s road RUC webinar and will explore how state DOTs are working with their legislatures to craft RUC pilot programs.
According to the BATIC Institute, participants in this webinar will also learn how to engage the public on RUC implementation, the benefits and drawbacks of RUC programs, and how to address the concerns regarding RUC application and technology.
The webinar’s first speaker, Mike Warren of consulting firm WSP, will provide an overall introduction to the topic. He’ll be followed by Bruce Starr, a former state senator of Oregon, and Maureen Block of the Oregon Department of Transportation, who will discuss Oregon’s OReGo RUC program – from the passage of legislation establishing the program to its actual implementation.
