ATSSA Seeks Applicants for Memorial Scholarships

Children and spouses of workers killed or permanently disabled in a work zone incident are invited to apply for a scholarship program offered through the ATSS Foundation – the community benefit enterprise operated by the American Traffic Safety Services Association – to pursue their academic dreams beyond high school. Applications are due by February 15.

The Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship offers up to $10,000 for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year, with the Chuck Bailey Memorial Scholarship Fund offering an additional $1,000 opportunity in honor of Chuck Bailey, who passed away in June 2002.

It was so named to honor a longtime member of the Ohio ATSSA Chapter who worked tirelessly to get Congress to approve funding dedicated for roadway safety projects and was quick to share his knowledge, contacts and time with ATSSA and the roadway safety industry.

[Editor’s note: The ATSS Foundation awarded Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarships to 12 students for the 2024-2025 academic year, along with 25 Chuck Bailey Memorial Scholarships. Click here to read more about those winners.]

ATSSA noted that the Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship program began in 2002 to provide financial assistance for post-high school education to dependents of roadway workers killed or permanently disabled in work zones.
