In late July, the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) launched the “On The DOT: An ARDOT Podcast” to help connect state residents with the people, projects, and decisions that keep the state’s transportation system moving.

The agency said the new podcast – available on all major podcast platforms, including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube, as well as through ARDOT’s website and social media channels – is part of its ongoing commitment to transparency and communication with the public.
To that end, the “On The DOT: An ARDOT Podcast” offers listeners a behind-the-scenes look at the department’s work across Arkansas, with each episode featuring informative, yet informal, discussions on timely topics pertaining to ARDOT and the transportation industry, the agency said.
The podcast – hosted and produced by ARDOT’s Communications Division – will feature guests from both within and outside of the agency.
In the inaugural episode, “More Than Potholes: An Intro to ARDOT,” the podcast co-hosts are joined by Jared Wiley, ARDOT’s director, for a “crash course” about the agency in under 30 minutes.
“This podcast provides yet another platform for ARDOT to educate and engage with the public,” Wiley said in a statement. “Reliable transportation is critical to all of us, every day. Our goal is to make these topics more understandable, relatable, and accessible to everyone.”
Other state departments of transportation also offer similar podcast programming as part of their public outreach efforts, such as “Talking Michigan Transportation,” produced by the Michigan Department of Transportation; “The DOT POD,” produced by the New York State Department of Transportation; “The Extra Mile Podcast,” produced by the Mississippi Department of Transportation; “On the Road with ADOT,” produced by the Arizona Department of Transportation; “Ahead of the Curve,” produced by the Georgia Department of Transportation; and the “Take the Exit” podcast produced by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
