‘Arizona Wallet’ Now Holds Vehicle Documents

The Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) of the Arizona Department of Transportation recently added new features and functions to the digital “Arizona Wallet” available to state residents.

Arizona DOT said state vehicle registration and titles can now be directly added to the Arizona Wallet, with an option for residents to be notified before their vehicle registration expires and link directly to AZMVDNow.gov to renew it. Those alerts also keeps residents informed about upcoming driver license expiration dates, the agency said.

However, the department said Arizona residents should continue to keep their physical registration and insurance in the vehicle to use in other situations, including interactions with law enforcement.

Arizona is one of the first states in the country to offer residents a digital wallet, available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Once the Arizona Wallet is downloaded to a phone, various forms of identification, including driver’s licenses, can be uploaded and used at over 250 airport security checkpoints and at participating retailers with the Smart ID Verifier app available on iPhone, or other digital readers.

The agency said its Arizona Wallet is compliant with North American implementation guidelines and international standards, allowing it to be recognized and used nationally and even internationally going forward.

“ADOT MVD is happy to once again help get Arizona residents out of the line and safely on the road,” said Michael Cryderman, director of Arizona DOT’s MVD, in a statement.

“Arizona Wallet is another example of [Arizona DOT] being a leader in offering additional convenient functionality through smartphones and securely conducting business in this digital age,” he added.
