In early June, AASHTO Product Evaluations & Audit Solutions and the West Virginia Department of Transportation jointly conducted a successful “Test Deck” instillation to evaluate the reliability of pavement marking materials.

Formerly known as the National Transportation Product Evaluation Program or NTPEP, AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions is a technical service program or TSP offered by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
That TSP combines the professional and physical resources of the AASHTO member departments in order to evaluate materials, products, and devices of common interest for use in highway and bridge construction.
The primary goal of this program is to provide cost-effective evaluations for state departments of transportation by eliminating duplication of testing and auditing by states and duplication of effort by manufacturers that provide products for evaluation.
State DOTs volunteering to host such “test decks” are one of the many ways AASHTO Product Evaluations & Audit Solutions helps them evaluate a variety of critical roadway materials.
Katheryn Malusky, program director for AASHTO Product Evaluations & Audit Solutions, explained in the video that AASHTO TSP staff work closely with the state DOT volunteers hosting a test deck to determine all of the resources are available to carry out the logistics required for such events.
Concurrently, the group’s Annual Meeting will be held June 23-27 in Kansas City, MO. All attendees at that meeting – from members of AASHTO to the Federal Highway Administration and private sector firms – will have the opportunity to learn about the work done by each of the TSP’s committees during working sessions.
The group’s Annual Meeting also allows for all attendees to engage with their peers and learn from one another in an effort to ensure state, federal, and industry members get the utmost benefit from participating in AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions program.
