AASHTO Seeks Workforce Management Program Director

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, an equal-opportunity employer, seeks to hire a Program Director for Transportation Workforce Management; a full-time position located at its Washington, D.C., office.

Reporting to AASHTO’s Deputy Director – Chief Policy Officer, this position leads and coordinates workforce development initiatives within the organization with a strong emphasis on understanding and implementing effective transportation workforce frameworks and professional development for critical AASHTO programs.

The primary role of the Program Director is to support the organization’s state department of transportation members as a partnering staff liaison to AASHTO’s Agency Administration Managing Committee; the staff liaison to the Committee on Human Resources, Committee on Knowledge Management, STEM Outreach Solutions technical service program, and Technical Training Solutions technical service program; and the AASHTO Leadership Development Series and its three constituent institutes.

Applicants for this position should have at least 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in workforce development, training, and management. A Bachelor of Arts or Science degree is required. Evidence of a higher degree of professional development, such as postgraduate education, is highly desired.

Applicants are also required to have prior experience in project management, with experience with a membership or trade association or the government sector preferred. That experience should include meticulous project planning, budgeting, and management ability. There is travel required at an estimated 20 to 25 days per year.
