AASHTO Seeks Project Manager for Software Products

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials seeks to hire a project manager to help lead the cooperative development of multiple computer software projects, as well as supervise the AASHTOWare® software products resulting from those projects. The position is located at the organization’s Washington, D.C., headquarters.

AASHTO – an equal opportunity employer – noted that job duties of the project manager also include: the solicitation and development process for new projects, including drafting requests for proposals; negotiating contracts and preparing contractual documents; administer software development contracts; and serve in a lead technical role on software development, implementation of new technology, re-positioning of existing products, and overall quality assurance.

Candidates for this position should have a minimum of seven years of related professional experience in a closely related field. It is desired that work experience includes: managing annual budgets of $1 million; development and management of software projects, with the direct use of computers and programming languages preferred; and a broad understanding of the technical aspects of software development lifecycle and methodologies.

AASHTO added that the comprehension of specific application areas of automated systems in transportation departments and the trends in associated technology is required, with technical skills in the areas of software engineering, project management, and contract administration and law is desirable.

A bachelor’s degree, preferably in civil engineering, information systems or computer sciences, is required for the project manager position, with evidence of a higher degree of professional development, such as post-graduate education or professional registration, as well as additional education in project management and contract administration and law is desirable.
