The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, an equal opportunity employer, is currently seeking to hire a program manager for technical and policy activities related to freight transportation at its Washington, D.C., headquarters.
Under the supervision of AASHTO’s program director for multimodal transportation, the program manager for freight monitors, gathers, synthesizes, and communicates information on freight transportation policy, legislative, regulatory, and technical matters for the organization’s members.
The program manager also supports AASHTO’s Council on Rail Transportation, Council on Water Transportation, Special Committee on Freight and Rail Resource Center – helping coordinate preparations for committee meetings and providing oversight of meeting logistics.
Applicants for this position will have a minimum of six to eight years of progressively responsible professional experience in the transportation sector, with a focus on policy and freight issues.
Prior experience in project management is highly desirable and a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree is required. Evidence of a higher degree of professional development, such as post-graduate education, is highly desirable.
A successful candidate for this position must also have a broad knowledge of the administrative, legislative, and regulatory processes and issues at the federal and state levels and must be able to travel 20 to 30 days per year.
