The first is for a communications manager. Under the direction of the director of communications and marketing, the communications manager’s responsibilities include planning and executing a proactive strategy to raise public awareness about AASHTO’s key messages and the critical role AASHTO and state departments of transportation play in shaping national transportation policy and delivering a safe, multimodal, and resilient mobility system for communities across the country. A successful candidate will have a minimum of eight years’ experience working in journalism and/or communications. Previous transportation industry experience and experience with association or non-profit work is desirable, but not required. A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in journalism or communications, and a graduate degree in a related field is desirable.
The next is for a human resource coordinator to support the human resources team’s recruitment, benefit administration, HR programs/processes, and all other efforts as needed for the association’s approximately 150 employees, spanning two office locations in Washington, D.C. and Frederick, MD. Applicants should have two years of experience in a position providing human resource support. A bachelor’s degree in human resources, or a closely related field, is required for this position, though a similar level of experience my substitute for education.
Finally, AASHTO seeks an information technology or IT business analyst who will work under the association’s director of technology and digital strategy as the liaison between employees and the AASHTO IT team. The IT business analyst should be an experienced project manager responsible for capturing and translating business requirements into design, development, and implementation to maximize organizational effectiveness. Applicants should have a minimum of seven years’ experience working in an information technology management or technology-driven role, preferably within an association. Applicants must show evidence of advanced experience in an analytical, data mining or reporting role, specifically in a role demanding a high level of project management, engagement, UX, analytics, web site development, and vendor management skills.
