Tapped to lead TxDOT by the Texas Transportation Commission in June 2021, Williams originally joined TxDOT in 2012 as director of planning and also served five years as deputy director of the agency.
In March, Williams testified on behalf of AASHTO before the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit within the House of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure at a hearing that examined the opportunities presented by and challenges affecting implementation of the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act or IIJA.
He also discussed his agency’s extreme weather response tactics as part of a short TxDOT video produced by Transportation TV in October 2022.
Prior to joining TxDOT, Williams’ career has included leadership roles with a variety of public and private sector organizations involved with the planning, development, and implementation of transportation infrastructure projects across the United States. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering and is a registered professional engineer in Texas.
