AASHTO Names Chair, Vice Chair for HR Committee

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials has named a chair and vice chair for its Committee on Human Resources.

The AASHTO Committee on Human Resources shares, researches, and recommends processes, best practices, and policies that enable the human resource functions of state transportation agencies to continuously become stronger and more innovative and efficient.

AASHTO appointed Jeff Pelton – assistant secretary-finance and administrative services at the Washington State Department of Transportation – to a two-year term as chair of AASHTO Committee on Human Resources, with Amanda Olive – human resources director at the North Carolina Department of Transportation – to a two-year term as the committee’s vice chair.

Pelton – who holds a bachelor’s degree in information technology from the University of Phoenix and a master’s of science degree in human resources from Chapman University – has worked at WSDOT for nearly 20 years.

Meanwhile, Olive has served in a wide variety of human resource roles during her more than 20-year career at NCDOT, including as a classification and compensation unit analyst, human resource operations manager, policy manager, and deputy director of human resources.
