The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials has issued a Request for Proposal to harmonize and modernize its leadership development series.
Among other learning platforms, AASHTO currently offers three main leadership development courses specifically tailored to offer transportation professionals knowledge and skills at various stages throughout their career:
- The National Transportation Management Conference provides emerging managers in departments of transportation the skills they need to make the transition from technical to management responsibilities.
- The National Transportation Leadership Institute provides enhanced leadership skills to middle managers and above who are generally regarded as high potential employees.
- The National Transportation Advanced Leadership Institute offers a unique senior executive four-day experience in Washington, D.C., with exposure to emerging national policy insights, Congressional staff, and U.S. Department of Transportation leadership.
Those current leadership development courses are administered through separate agreements with different providers, but it is the desire of AASHTO to contract with a single provider to meet the changing workforce needs of state departments of transportation, strengthening the transportation workforce of today, and equipping the leaders of the future.
Contract proposals should be sent by email to Strat Cavros at scavros@aashto.org no later than 4 pm Eastern Standard Time on May 15.
