The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials recently issued interim revisions to its “Movable Bridge Inspection, Evaluation, and Maintenance Manual,” 2nd Edition, originally published in 2017.

AASHTO noted that its Movable Bridge Manual presents uniform guidelines and procedures pertaining to the structural, mechanical, electrical, and operational characteristics unique to movable highway bridges.
The group said the 2024 interim revisions fully replace “Part 3: Movable Bridge Element Descriptions” within the manual.
It is necessary to have the 2024 interim revisions to have all current specification information contained within the Movable Bridge Manual, AASHTO emphasized.
