AASHTO Journal - A.I.I. Nomination Period Closes August 2

From now through August 2, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Innovation Initiative, known as A.I.I., is accepting nominations for new innovative technologies. A.I.I. accepts submissions for consideration from state departments of transportation and AASHTO associate members.

Formerly called the AASHTO Technology Implementation Group, A.I.I. aims to accelerate the adoption of new innovations by transportation agencies nationwide.

The organization emphasized that while A.I.I. applications for “new innovative technology” nominations can be developed by the partners of a transportation agency, the nomination itself must be submitted by a state department of transportation.

To be considered, technologies must meet the following criteria:

Currently used by one or more transportation agency.
Nomination submitted by an AASHTO member organization.
Must be out of “prototype” phase.

Technologies are evaluated based on their description, state of development, the rate of benefit in other agencies, and their market readiness, AASHTO noted.

Applications for nominated technologies must be submitted electronically. More information on the submission process, as well as a sample application, and how to submit are available via the A.I.I. website.
