The Florida Department of Transportation recently partnered with Eve Air Mobility, a manufacturer of electric vertical take-off and landing or “eVTOL” aircraft and integrated services, to help deliver insights into the infrastructure, operational procedures, and airspace navigation procedures needed to enable the safe and efficient integration of Advanced Air Mobility or AAM into Florida’s transportation network.

Eve Air Mobility will be working with Florida DOT through the agency’s SunTrax Air dedicated research and development hub to evaluate AAM technologies, operational concepts, and supporting infrastructure for next-generation aviation.
“This partnership is another step of forward-progress being made in Florida toward achieving the implementation of AAM,” said Jared Perdue, Florida DOT secretary, in a statement.
[Editor’s note: In March, the U.S. Department of Transportation selected eight proposals to help safely integrate next-generation AAM aircraft into the national airspace, with state departments of transportation – including Florida DOT – involved in more than half of them.]
“The unique resources and infrastructure found only at SunTrax will play a key role in Eve’s research and testing needed to ensure the safe integration of AAM into our transportation system,” he added.
“Florida recognizes its strategic role in the future of AAM and is proactively building the ecosystem needed to support it,” noted Johann Bordais, chief executive officer of Eve Air Mobility. “The Florida DOT team understands that successfully introducing a new mode of transportation requires alignment across aircraft, infrastructure, operations, and communities.”
