Sean McMaster, administrator of the Federal Highway Administration, and Seval Oz, assistant secretary of research and technology for the U.S. Department of Transportation, will be the keynote speakers for the National Transportation Emergency Response Summit or NTERS set to take place July 22-23 in Las Vegas.

The NTERS, held in conjunction with (and immediately following) the Western Association of State Highway Transportation Officials or WASHTO Annual Meeting, brings together leaders from transportation, public safety, emergency management, and government for a one-and-a-half-day discussion aimed at strengthening coordination across states, sharing lessons learned and best practices, and taking a more connected approach to emergency response.

Aside from McMaster and Oz’s keynote addresses, the summit will feature a “Governor’s Roundtable on Regional Resilience,” featuring virtual panelists Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen (R) and Hawaii Governor Josh Green (D).
Topics of other NTERS sessions include cross-sector perspectives, the changing nature of emergency events, building on regional emergency response summits, how connectivity and technology strengthen emergency response, and many others.
Several state departments of transportation leaders will share their insights through those sessions.
Those leaders include Marc Williams, executive director of the Texas Department of Transportation; Justin Powell, secretary of the South Carolina Department of Transportation; Garrett Eucalitto, commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Transportation; and Tracy Larkin Thomason, director of the Nevada Department of Transportation.
