Wisconsin DOT Wins ‘Most Involved Agency’ Award

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation recently won the “Most Involved Agency Award” from AASHTOWare for 2026 as the agency with the largest number of separate volunteer roles across AASHTOWare’s software suite.

AASHTOWare, a division of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, offers a suite of transportation software products delivered through a collaborative business model with state departments of transportation across the country.

Wisconsin DOT has a total of 29 total volunteers working in various roles across AASHTOWare:

  • AASHTOWare Project – 16 total volunteer roles;
  • AASHTOWare Bridge Management – five total volunteer roles;
  • AASHTOWare Bridge Design and Rating – five total volunteer roles; and
  • AASHTOWare Safety – three total volunteer roles.

“Volunteers are what helps us make AASHTOWare the best possible software tool to meet the needs of the state DOT community,” said Keith Platte, director of AASHTOWare. “Agency staff like those at Wisconsin DOT are integral to the success of our program.”
