The Federal Transit Administration recently issued nearly $390 million to 34 transit projects in 19 states and Puerto Rico to help deliver almost 200 new buses and either build or rehabilitate approximately 11 facilities.

The FTA added that the transit firms receiving awards from its Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities program are from the remaining applications submitted under the original fiscal year 2025 notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) and FY 2026 funding, which was officially appropriated by Congress on February 3.
[Editor’s note: That funding is included within the 2026 Transportation-Housing and Urban Development or THUD bill as part of a modified “minibus” legislative package passed by the Senate on January 30, which the House of Representatives subsequently passed on February 3.]
To date, including this announcement, FTA said it has allocated $2.4 billion in FY 2025 and FY 2026 funding for 199 transit projects in 48 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia.
FTA added that it anticipates publishing the next NOFO for those programs in late 2026.
