Four Software Vendors Become AASHTOWare Alliance Members

AASHTOWare – the software division of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials – recently formed an “Enterprise Alliance” with Bentley Systems, Environmental Systems Research Institute Inc. or ESRI, Autodesk, and Trimble.

The AASHTOWare Alliance Program – launched in 2023 – aims to fill functional gaps in its software offerings while allowing it to meet the growing needs of its members. The program currently includes four types of alliances: integrator, data, product, and strategic alliances.

“AASHTOWare understands that state agencies use many software solutions to conduct their mission on a daily basis,” said Keith Platte, director of AASHTOWare. “This alliance is a recognition that we are committed to working together to fulfill our members’ need for solutions that are seamlessly integrated and data flows easily.”

Throughout the transportation software space, there are several vendors that provide state departments of transportation with a vast number of solutions that are integral to their work. AASHTO members identified Bentley Systems, ESRI, Autodesk, and Trimble as ideal candidates for joining AASHTOWare via an Enterprise Alliance as the solutions they offer are instrumental to AASHTO member agencies. Their technology solutions also offer other benefits to AASHTOWare products through potential data integrations.

The alliance with all four software providers aims to create a collaborative forum to help them better understand the solutions needed by AASHTO members while promoting strategic perspectives – including the potential for interoperable technologies – to improve state DOT services and meet state DOT-driven requests for connectivity and workflow.

AASHTOWare said the goals of this new Enterprise Alliance are to:

  • Provide a collaborative forum that fosters state DOT solutions being agnostic
  • Promote strategic perspectives, allowing all parties to understand how they can work together
  • Provide interoperable technologies to improve services for state DOTs and meet state DOT-driven requests for connectivity and workflow
  • Provide insights to strategically prepare for industry transformation
